Latest on Hobby;
I have just finished a three-week hiatus from writing. I had sent the manuscript for my work, “Revivals and Their Opposers: How Pharisees, Sadducees and Gnostics stymie revivals,” to my publisher. He will edit it and then publish it by early 2026. I am praying for an earlier date (pray with me on that). I spent the weeks resting and asking the Lord which of my several writing project to take up next. I believe it is to complete my work on conspiracy theories, “The Paradox of Conspiracy Theories: How some are true, but many are sinful, slanderous and destructive.”
Part of my rest period was set apart to clean my house (not very successfully) and part to upgrade my WWI collection of card-stock models. You can see my latest work in the armored car and tank in the front of the line.
IMAGE #2 shows four of my best WW! Planes. The lead plane is a Nieuport 18, in markings of an American squadron. The twin engined aircraft is an Italian Caproni bomber. Next to it is a Focker Triplane and in the rear an Albatross D-5.
BTW, I had an even bigger collection of WW1 Planes and tanks 12 years ago, but the Lord told me to give them away. I did. He did not tell me I could not do new ones! Generaly, when I get someone to visit me they get a free plane – be inspired!
All of these models can be downloaded from fiddlersgreen.net. When I was pastor, I used to make a plane, and a house, barn, or church as prizes to motivate the children in the Sunday school class to pay attention. It worked marvelously. Boys would get an airplane, girls a building.
IMAGE #3 is of a picture of the card stock buildings I did for my step grandchild. That was 15 years ago.
For youth pastors, the Fiddlers Green collection of buildings has about 10 different churches you can download (not free, but not expensive). This might be an excellent craft project for the children. The Canon “creative park” website has a marvelous collection of architectural classics which include some of the most beautiful and interesting churches in the world. These are free to download, but difficult to construct – a great hobby for adults.
